Case Study: Sustainable Culture of Inclusion

About the Organization

Founded over 70 years ago, the client is one of the world’s top communication agencies for global clients. The agency operates in over 80 countries to promote authenticity through dynamic branding, reputation, and experience. Their dedication to DEI has garnered accolades from organizations such as the Human Rights Campaign, and the Purpose Awards EMEA.

Goals

Prior to partnering with LCW, the clients focused and authentic commitment to advancing inclusion had been demonstrated through programs such as their Diversity Fellowship program and a global DEI practice comprised of expert communications counselors with a diversity of lived and professional experiences. Through their work, they aim to become the most inclusive agency in the world—a lofty goal that is regularly reinforced on all levels by their CDIO. To expand their efforts, the agency sought a partner to conduct a cultural audit aimed at providing insight on the agency’s current state and data that would support their overall DEI strategy.

“We especially appreciated the Sustainable Culture of Inclusion model as a visual representation and guide for forward momentum. It clarified for us how to not only measure success but also where to take the next steps”

A Roadmap Toward Inclusion

LCW conducted an intensive DEI audit of agency’s individual mindsets and organizational systems, which included leading agency-wide focus groups, key-person interviews, global inclusion surveys, and examination of internal processes. Our Sustainable Culture of Inclusion Model was used to plot the results for a comprehensive look at the agency’s progress toward global inclusion.

This culminated in high-level culture, accountability, and global DEI strategy recommendations and road-mapping tailored to relevant stakeholder groups (e.g., leaders, managers, and individual contributors). Immediate action steps included internal socialization of the findings and initiative prioritization to provide a framework for the agency’s future DEI initiatives. Forward momentum would be supported through LCW programs such as inclusion-centered e-learnings and facilitations, cultural immersions, and IDI assessments for the client’s people leaders.

What comes next?

Utilizing the SCI model as a visual guide to goalsetting, LCW continues working with the client to develop strategic interventions that will be incorporated into overall business goals as well as learning journeys that upskill leaders and managers. The agency will take a wholistic approach to advancing inclusion, recognizing the importance in building cultural competence for both internal processes and external support of clients; implementation includes engaging inclusion champions around a global DEI strategy to ensure momentum at all levels of the organization. LCW will support the client throughout their journey through additional consulting and e-learnings.
